This training provides law enforcement personnel with a practical overview of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and its public-records requirements. Join attorneys from the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office for an in-depth review of the basic rules governing public records and the exemptions most commonly encountered by law enforcement agencies.

A hands-on, practical workshop will focus on responding to FOIA requests. Participants will work through FOIA response issues, including reviewing requested records, applying exemptions, making appropriate redactions, and producing responsive records.

The training will conclude with an open question-and-answer session addressing FOIA issues that law enforcement agencies commonly encounter.

By the end of the program, participants will have a stronger understanding of how to evaluate and respond to FOIA requests under Arkansas law.
